Stan as he was affectionally, known, was the son of one of the earliest settlers in this area and one of the legendary Hoolahn boys. His parents had a home in the Nassau-By-The-Sea settlement before moving to what is now Point Lookout. Stan grew up here, served as a lifeguard, Fire Chief and, for decades, as the sexton of the Miraculous Medal church where he was typically seen shepherding a group of kids while they performed various church maintenance duties. The caption in the 1995 news clipping below covers the dedication of the 'New Horton Ambulance" and states that it "is dedicated to Ex-Captain and Point Lookout resident Stanley Hoolahan ... for his 77 years of residency in Point Lookout and for his very active duty with the community." |
