About
the pictures contributed by Barb Fiorillo: On 9/10/01
I dropped off film, that included the Children's Day
photos seen above, at Kelly Film Express in the mall at
the WTC. After 9/11/01, I, like many other Kelly Film
customers, assumed that my film was lost. We found out
later that part of the WTC mall was accessible to rescue
workers. NYPD Lt. Michael Pappas, while leading a search
for victims, stumbled onto the undamaged store, where 500
rolls of pictures lay in a bin. Pappas
carried the pictures out of the mall and brought them to
the store owner Allan Tamarkin. Tamarkin tracked down the
pictures' owners to return the them - gratis - making
these pictures of Children's Day extra special! Thank you
NYPD and Kelly Film Express! |
