Art
Show
August 2002
Story
and photos contributed by Ruth Fenner Barish
The
annual art show, including a fine turnout of work by the
youngsters of the community. Maria Berruti, who said she takes
private lessons, showed serious promise. We saw a lot of bead work
as well as other jewelry, especially noting young Brianne and
Murphy Shannon’s bead rings. The PL historical display featured
photos memorializing the local theatricals that were so popular in
pre-television times. Dana, you don’t look a day older! Bill
Hemp showed ink and colored pencil sketches from Peggy’s Cove,
where he and Maggie spent the month of July. Admirers - and buyers
- surrounded all the artists. John Simonelli not only judged the
children’s work but had a throng of connoisseurs around his own
award-winning photos.
